The last Daddy's Day

Today was a sad day: it was the last "Daddy's Day".

And actually this is all good news. Femke will be attending a special daycare centre starting next week, where she will be getting more personal attention and where we all hope she will start making small (and bigger) steps in her development.
Even better: we expect to be learning al lot ourself as well! About sign-language, new tools en new toys & games that will challenge Femke. And when you have your own company... having an additional day to work is never a bad idea.

However...

I'm already working somewhere between 60 - 80 hours a week. Having 8 additional hours won't make a big difference.

And after today we are no longer able to go swimming on Wednesday morning and laugh all the way down the huge slide.
No longer taking Femke to the hockeypitch, looking at the practice and playing with all the other kids.
No more grocery shopping, pulling everything from the shelves and getting balloons from the staff as a reward.

Of course you can do al these things on a Saturday as well. But it won't be Daddy's Day, and those days are special. Just as Mommy's Day is special to mommy. Those days are special, because Femke knows very well it is Daddy's (or Mommy's) Day.

Mommy doesn't even have to try to put food in Femke's mouth on Daddy's Day: simply because it is Daddy's Day. The same goes for diper changes, playing and cuttling. It's Daddy's Day, Femke will ignore mommy. Just like daddy will be ignored on Mommy's Day.

So all I can do is hope that Femke will turn Saturday or Sunday into a proper Daddy's Day. Because I will miss our time together...

I hope we have made the right decision, and we won't regret it.
They'd better work hard, to proof us right...

Hello Daycare.
Bye Bye Daddy's Day...
